2020 Week 50

We put the Christmas Tree up in the village

The 'teenege' cats were given (and made to wear) Christmas outfits (so impressed!!!)

Kitty Penny hasn't been mistreated to the same degree!!!

Several tea-towels have been embroidered for a friend / customer

And felt has been delivered so I can commence Ginger making!!!

An 'it's cold but I'm warm' thank you to three of my favourite knitters (Thank you Janine, Amo and Jackie!)

A few Gingers waiting to go to their new homes

Some fab Christmas pressies from Jackie!

Yes including the mixer bowl - I can't manage the glass one it's too heavy - and a co-ordinated Irish effort saw her daughter finding one on a buying and selling site, the son in law collecting it, and the Irish and British post offices getting it to me!  I love it!!!

The Hexi swap flowers for November have arrived - all in gorgeous shades of red - matching the mixer!

And Lisa has finished her second Christmas Gnome!!

2019 Wk 52 - copying quilts.

You may remember I made a whole load of Gingerbread men for the Chertsey Museum ladies: I also made some for bloggy and real friends,  but I couldn't show them until they'd been delivered!

Now I can!  They aren't actual copies of the quilts (or knitting) that my friends have created, but I hope they gave the recipients a laugh as they unwrapped them!

First is for Amo -it's her "Scheepjes Crochet-a-Long, Rozeta, based on a stained glass window." from this post

This is the original that inspired it

Next is one for Plum based on one of her many sampler quilts, in 'her' colours - so many quilts to choose from but I decided to represent this one

This is the original that inspired it

Next is one for Sharon who doesn't blog but made a gorgeous quilt, finishing it at Crafty Church

This is the original that inspired it

Fourth is for Avril to represent this stunning quilt

This is the original that inspired it

And fifth is a paler version of this quilt that poor Kathy had to make twice as the post office lost the first one

This is the original that inspired it

The next one is for Janine - a very old post , but a very lovely quilt that is now mine so I thought it very appropriate!

This is the original that inspired it

Finally here is one for Jackie - with her crochet ...

2019 Wk 52 - Crafty Church

This month's Crafty Church was mostly making Christmas decorations!

I was taught how to make these fun decorations

And Daisy, Ellie and Rosie (who taught me) and their mum made 6 large versions between them and then joined them together to make this mega star (about 20" across)

Tara made this *tiny* Christmas scene from a kit

And Lynne is working on this in secret as a Christmas gift for her daughter

This kept me warm on the way to church - tank you Janine - I love it!!!!

I popped into my LQS last week.  I've known Helen for (we worked out) at least 23 years.  She has a log cabin in the front garden - it's a shop and workshop.  I have spent many happy hours there, but she and her husband have put the house on the market and plan to move to the south coast for retirement - the shop has now closed :-(

I help the retirement fund I bought a few bits and pieces: some shocking pink spraytime for the Kaffe Fassett quilt

some Sashiko stencils for a class I'm teaching next year

A beautiful teale fabric and some brown spraytime to go with it, a few meters of dark blue, some sky and some random FQs

And I think I'm ready for Christmas - woohoo!

Wool at the Weekend

I keep meaning to link with Janine's Wool on Sundays posts.  She is really good at knitting and crochet, and doll making (have you seen Grandma Alice?)

But I have started to get the hang of crochet (well, the one stitch that I have been taught) and I have now finished a baby blanket

And have started on a scarf, AND have remembered to post pictures on a Sunday!!! Yay!!!

I have also finished an I-Spy quilt started in December.

This gorgeous boy was born to a second cousin of mine in Norway back before Christmas, but mum and dad have only just now decided on a name!

So it was only this weekend that I could embroider his name!  The binding won't take too long to finish then I can post i

Woolly Weekend

Today I'm going to link with Janine's Wool on Sunday posts. I have finally finished my crochet fingerless gloves

But let's compare them to the ones that Jackie knitted for me

I think *one* pair can go to the homeless, and the other pair I'll carry on using in the car every morning, you don't need me to specify which pair is which do you?

Another woolly wonder - the girls pulled Alice's hood (snood? Cowl?) down yesterday, and discovered even more attention to detail - look at this fab plait,

And look how I often wear my hair!

And finally, my thermofax screen arrived yesterday, so as soon as I clear some other work (preschool uniforms, tshirt for a friend, weight bags for slimming world, two I spy quilts, etc) I want to have a play!

Weekend, Workroom and WOW!

It's the weekend, yay!!!  I've hardly managed any midweek sewing, so hopefully the weekend will be more productive!

My new workroom is almost finished.  I still have lots of Lisa's stuff in here as she's decorating her 'new' room, so mine should get better, but here are a few photos for now.

Although the room is bigger I've got less storage as there is more low level stuff rather than to-the-ceiling stuff.  I've gone for a standing workbench so I don't need to plan in space for a chair.  I spend much of the time at school slumped at a desk, so this may improve my posture too!

And this (rather gorgeous) fabric arrived today, wrapped around my WOW.

Actually that's wrong, it was wrapped around my
WOW

No, still not right, one more try ... wrapped around my

Meet Grandma Alice Fawkes!  She has been created by the amazingly talented Janine who blogs over at RainbowHare and has been entrusted to me to be loved and looked after!  Oh Janine - I do and I will!!!

Alice was blogged about here - which happened to be on Janine's Grandmother (Alice)'s birthday, and Guy Fawkes Night here in the UK, so you can see she was easy to name.

As well as being incredibly well made, she even came with a knitted cardigan and socks and hat, and a beautiful dress made of cotton with needle and thread design on it!

My photos clearly don't do her justice (I should have paid more attention to Katy's online photography lessons) but I have found some trinkets that are about her size

And I even found her a rocking chair and some EPP she can be getting on with!

Janine - you are awesome!!!!!!
