2019 Wk 25 - Rainbow weekend

Jackie has been here and we've had (of course) a fabulous weekend but unfortunately it's come to and end and she's on her way home :-(.

We both have a crazy number of reminders of the weekend - and more than a few are rainbow themed!!

We made rainbow necklaces and embroidered a tshirt for Gay Pride month

We made these fab rainbow bucket bags, based very loosely on this Pin

The designer machine quilted them more or less in the ditch - we went for in your face Kantha type quilting and for this lovely textured look

By making the bucket bags slightly smaller than the instructions said we managed to have some rainbow leftover so we make these Pythagoras zippy pouches with the remainder rainbow and some beautiful cork fabric with rainbow splashes

We used some other cork too - this lush claret red cork - to make another zippy

Oh, and then went on to make these framed retreat pouches (that were much easier than I last remember them being)

and finally some of these from this gorgeous fabric from South Africa from Sharon, lined with some spraytime

Love you Jackie - come back soon!!!!

2018 wk 7 - more retreat making

I did have slightly longer than usual in Ireland than usual, but considering one of us was a bit under par  I am astonished by how much we made.  Much of it is on yesterday’s post, but here comes the rest . . .

I hand stitched three Farmer’s wife blocks (thanks Plum for the book, and Jim for the fabric!). A slightly unconventional fabric choice but I’m loving it!!!

We made these,

Which open out to these

(One is slightly narrower due to someone forgetting you can’t iron vinyl!)

We used some more cork to make these Pythagoras pouches

With an inside pocket

We made two girly baby changing wallets - exactly the same method as Plum’s notebook cover but big enough to pop a nappy in one side and pack of wipes in the other.  We added a hanging look and a closing loop in case they were useful

Our final project were these two pouches - a useful 9 x 9 inches with a 7” vinyl pocket front and back.  Jackie wanted hers with a boxed bottom and I didn’t so that’s why they look different heights.

Then I had to take the long lonely journey back to Dublin - just me and the hire car!  Why don’t hire cars have a place to put a mobile phone / sat nav?  Luckily I had a scrunchy with me so I bodged a phone holder.

Now I’m home - it’s all over for a couple of months!  Love you Jackie - thanks is for a great 4 days xxxx

2017 Wk 49 - Christmas making

I've been busy using up the black and white scraps from the Black and White and bits of Bright quilt , and have make zippy pouches for colleagues

Then I pieced the rest to make a bit enough block that I could make a few Pythagoras pouches

So finally I've got my Christmassy packages ready to post - although maybe they will be New Year packages!!

I've finished a few customer orders (although there are plenty left to do)

And I've actually done something for me!  As we are getting to the season of Christmas jumpers I decided to go with a nativity rather than Rudolph or Santa

And in final random news . . .  its snowing

And the kitties are happy with their quilts

2007 Wk 34 - More embroidery!

I'm reaching th stage where I cant even bare to look at the Burgundy school uniforms - I've just counted the ones I've done so far in this delivery . . . 95!!!!  Still I'm consoling myself by calculating the invoice value!!

I have managed to alternate with some other designs: this one for a returning customer (her 4th quilt label from me)

and this on the I-spy quilt for a colleague at work who just became a great auntie

I also had a go at making a Pythagoras pouch for Lisa.  The fab Katy at Littlest Thistle explains the maths on how to make a zippy pouch with a flat bottom and vertical sides.  I had this fabric that Lisa wanted used

And this cr@p very important stuff that needed to fit inside

So maths done, paper template created, hole cut to allow fussy cutting

And ta-da - a zippy pouch with a flat bottom and vertical sides.

I did also put a pocket in  . . .

And used the leftover fabric to make a humbug pouch

I've also used up some of my bead and charm stash by making these stilettos - great for poking things that need poking, or holding still stuff that shouldn't move
