Hello lovely people - here are some of the things I've been involved with this month.

My Chertsey Museum class made (or started to make) giant Dorset Buttons: I'm looking forward to see how these turn out

I saw a pinterest idea for "making" a jacket - I bought a huge hoodie on Vinted for £2:50 and cut the seams away, and now I'm adding denim scraps - photo to follow!

In the really hot weather I bought what I planned to be a cool tub - but husband had a Heath Robinson moment (or several of them) and added a solar mat and a pump to recycle the water and heat it

Not quite as cooling as I'd expected - but a great place to spend d a few hours on a hot evening!

I met up with some friends for secondary school (we left school 40 years ago this summer!)  So I made a Ginger wearing our school uniform to thank the organiser of the afternoon

and he's been joined by a Welsh lady as a request from a friend: she's a first draft so version2 should be better

I sent to the hair dressers - actually more accurately, she came to me - I went pink . . .

And I went short!

I spent evenings in the cooling garden cutting up a LOT of denim that I have collected /  been donated: I have some plans!!!

I stitch 6 Forget-me-not hexie flowers for the Facebook swap, and 

and have received most of the incoming flowers

Our Community Coffee Morning has finally been graced with the presence of a Library: venry exciting.  It's only open on a Monday morning . . .

But this is where I found my girls on Saturday morning during our Stitch session - in their happy library den!!!

I had a weekend with girlfriends in York, and had been directed to check out three fabric / button shops: just look at this one!!!  I *may* have spent some money (thanks Tara!!!)

The raspberries and red currents have finished in the garden, and we now have blackberries, so more crumble has been made and eaten!

I've been stitching together some of the denim scraps into blocks

and have been stitching these brown fabrics into a flimsy for mum

Much of the sewing has been ten minutes here, 15 minutes there and ideas are piling up much quicker than I can get things done so the sewing room is a dreadful tip at the moment - I will tidy up sometime in the next 18 days as Jackie will be arriving then and there just might be some sewing happening!!!

2021 Week 47

 Hmmm, no post for a month 😱

My excuse has been that I've been busy, busy and ill, ill, too ill to care about being busy and now busy again, with a hint of being ill!  At least I haven't had Covid - *just* a horrible cough and cold and then (without being guilty of TMI) a burning sensation that is being sorted by antibiotics!!!

So a review of the last month (broken down into two parts)

The Gingers have decided to start a countdown to Christmas!  I made a few of these to sell at a village Christmas Fayre, and a few others which will go to the half dozen or so lovely Ginger fans in the villages!  I'm just finishing them off so they can be delivered by Tuesday

A young friend in the village is an amazing cheerleader and trampolinist.  One of the groups she trains with have these sparkly backpacks with their names on in gold - she was gifted one but it had someone else's name on - so a gold patch was created and hand stitched onto the bag over the previous name

My girly trips (see under LSA labels) to Europe have all had a badge made for them.  It started with a backpack for the ones that went to Norway in 2007, with a norwegain flag on it, but they suggested that all the trips should have a design, so they got created and added to the bag.    Since then I have been making them as a patch - I've managed to lose my bag so have re-done them on a fleece shawl: it looks as if the other bags are getting rather full!!!

  

I have made and posted the November Hexie flowers for the FB swap

And taught a class on Sashiko embroidery.  I bought pre-printed panels but as we stitched in white it doesn't show very well 

A bit of grand-kitty spam, sorry, but aren't they cute!!!  Penny is sat in the pouch Jackie and I made Niki for her work stuff

And Thor is sat in a cat cave that (based on the receipt date) he and his sister have totally ignored for 367 days, but NOW its a cozy place to sleep!!!

At the start of the horrid cold I had a few days away with girls that I worked with about 30 years ago: so lovely to be together

And finally for this post - I had fun sorting out all the keys for the village hall - now I only need the few keys to get in and then can access all the other stuff from this key cabinet - I love that it's colour co-ordinated and all labeled - is it very sad that this makes me so happy???

2021 Week 33

 A few Gingers this week : I was asked to do one as a mascot for the local lunch club (they already have one for their coffee morning)

National Photography week came and went so a Ginger supported that under the Craftivism hashtag, along with Read a Book week

and our neighbouring village has a village "Garden Party" (church fayre) coming up soon,  with a theme of HatLand - everyone has been asked to wear a hat - I made this one as a raffle prize - the Ginger who can't decide what hat to wear!!

I made a nappy clutch for a friend's daughter and she asked me to make another one for her niece - my side kick is stuck in Ireland so I had to Make. It. On. My. Own - shock horror!!!  It's not quite straight and the corners are square not rounded and I totally made up the Velcro bit and the number of pockets . . .  but it's made and posted to her anyway!  Let's hope she likes it!

Another friend has commissioned an I-spy quilt for each of her 8 great niblings - I love that word even though no on else seems to use it! (https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/nibling)

And now one of the nieces has announced another baby is under construction - so here is quilt number 9!  Just waiting for the name

I finally got back to the hairdressers after 12 months - it really was like straw at the ends!  4" hacked off and the very faded pink replaced by a subtle purple!!!

2021 Week 31

 How is it August already???

Next month one of our two village summer fairs will be returning after two years - the theme is Hatland so I thought a ginger with lots of hats was a good way to while away a few hours!

Lisa finished this awesome crochet blanket and promptly gave it to Niki on long term loan (she's fed up with it but knows she will fall in love with it again so they'll swap next time she finishes something!)

Lynne gave me some rhubarb - a better crop than mine!!! 

Together they made a delicious crumble

Stitch started back on Saturday - so lovely to meet people in real life!!!  Not many pics, but lots of organising and sorting, and a little bit of chatting!!!

 

Crafty Church also started back on Saturday (and some of us had a picnic between!) Again, fab to see so many people and an amazing show and tell (and disgracefully no photos)

We had patchworking, embroidery, knitting, crochet, painting . . . and funnily enough a load more chatting!
