November 2025

so . . . the bestest creation this year, or even this decade, is this young man!  Created by Niki and George, this is Jack!

I am in love!!!

We didn't know whether we were getting a Poppy or a Jack, so I made bunting for both names just in case

and an i-Spy quilt completed just waiting for the name at this stage

Other life went on as well: the Chertsey ladies made hessian pots

And I completed a model kit while waiting for the updates from George at the hospital

then this happened ❤❤❤

We put the bunting up - and George managed to avoid being decapitated!

Jack's first book and quiltlet

Jack at 1 week old

Other people had babies too!  This one went to my cousin in Norway's daughter and new granddaughter

And I went to a wreath making session

July 2025

I'm still not sure where my times goes, but here is a glimpse of my July in photos:

Twp taggies for a friend's twin granddaughters

My lovely niece, India, arrived from Australia, and was immediately put to work helping Niki and George pack up their flat - they exchanged contracts at 3pm on Thursday and needed to move at noon on Friday - who needs more than 21 hours notice eh?

A lovely session with the Chertsey team, Show and Tell showcased some quilt as you go hexies

and we made positive and negative applique

India had a play with Lizzie and made an ID handle wrap for her backpack handle (she's off to 10 countries before coming back late September)

I made a ginger to celebrate the anniversary of the Moon Landing

And cross stitched a new needle case from a kit gifted by the lovely Vicki

Another brick I-Spy quilt in progress

And a ginger for national beer lover's day

and read a book day

Oh and two to celebrate the lionesses football win!

Last time I spring cleaned the dolls house was, shockingly, 2016!!!

So I put that right

And finally I made gingers for our GodDaughter's upcoming wedding - she asked for one for each person in the main wedding party.  Happy to oblige!

Spring Cleaning

Nearly twenty years ago, oldest daughter received a dolls house which had been lovingly made for her by my very talented father.   It has been really well looked after over the years (especially as she was 5 when she got it), but hasn't been attended to while she's been away, so the dust was fairly thick!

We emptied all the furniture and she cleaned the house while I cleaned the stuff.

Then we put everything back

I wish my house was this tidy!!!!

We looked at making a perspex cover to keep some of the dust off, but that stuff is really expensive.
In Paperchase (scrapbooking dept) I found some sheets of thick plastic, so made this cover.  I think I need a more subtle shade of duck tape!

2011 May

 mum saw these...

my mum saw these quilts and thought of me, aren't they great :-)  I especially love the stained glass window and the matching quilt - must have been made by a very talented quilter!

Thank you  mummy!

not enough space

I have now tidied my sewing room (it seriously needed it) but I'm shorter on space than I was before.  I claim to not understand it, but between me and Mr Mastercard, I know exactly why there is less space...

... 3m of curtain fabric from Ikea, for Lisa's bedroom

... 10 FQs for £10 from Cottonpatch, well, it could have been rude not to as such a good price - aren't they YUMMY

... 2m pink batik to border the pink and purple pinwheels

... and these Moda Aviary fabrics to compliment the ones I got from CrossPatch a while ago; the ones I used for Kelli's baby's quilt.  I got these form the states - they got sent to dad's to save on postage costs, and astonishingly, one of the grandparents at school has a house just 5 minutes from Dad's so she kindly brought it back after their recent trip :-)

And the final photo is an almost-finish.  This is the Arnold's Attic fabric I won at Christmas that is finally quilted and half bound.  I've stitched the binding to the front, and pinned it to the back, but I'm fed up with it, and it doesn't have a home planned, so it can go back into to the pile until I fancy some hand sewing!

Need a good home ...

I have two quilts that are nearly finished.  I have been putting off the last hour or so of finishing as they don't have a home to go to, so I've been doing other projects instead.  However, I am getting to the stage where I need the space, so I would like these to go to a good home.

Please have a look at them and help me out - do you think of a deserving person or charity when you see these?  Can you suggest someone who would appreciate one?  Please can you use the comment form to suggest either an international charity, or a UK based charity or deserving cause, and I'll pick two suggestions next weekend and send the quilts.

Disappearing 9 Patch from Moda's Arnold's Attic range
and a Zig Zag rail fence.

TECHNICAL STUFF: measurements ... ZigZag: 170cmx130cm, D9P (browns and greens): about 115cm x 140cm.  Both 100% cotton top, quilted, and 100% fleece backing.  Machine washable to 40 degrees C)

Welcome Stash Manicurists

I am a bit very nervous, not sure I'll sleep tonight ... Any time now, Madame Samm over at Stash Manicure will be publishing a post from little old me.  It was meant to be in a few weeks time, but at short notice it was moved to 9th May so I ran out of time to find an excuse to wimp out!.

So welcome to Stash Manicurists, thank you so much for clicking the link!  The Charity Quilt giveaway moved down on the screen, but you can scroll down or [click here].  All comments will be looked at, whether on this post, that post or the garden post!

As an excuse for a photo on this post, have a look at these yummy fabrics I've been collecting for my Sis-In-Law's birthday pressie: red grapes, green grapes, corks and bottles of wine ... SO her!

Not telling what it is yet, just in case she visits the blog!
