 Hello - happy end of May!  My gosh this year is going quickly (is that an age thing!!)

A summary of my May in many pictures!

Ideas for a hexi necklace, to be worked on

A purchase of a gorgeous felt doll, who may become the focus of a lesson

and a baby felt doll inspired by the same designer

We offered a few bunting sessions in the village- at least ha;lf a dozen people made some bunting . . .

and I found the stuff we made ten years ago at a previous session and hung it up on the village green

I prepped a giant Dorset button for a class at the beginning on July

And I finally finished Lisa's king size quilt that should have been for her birthday (early April!)

Apparently Luna approves too!

I'm working on extending this cotton top from my s-i-l, it needs a bit more - fingers crossed it will work as I anticipate!

2022 April (second half)

 Hello all

This is brief run down of the last few week's:

These are prep for a class on Friday afternoon: scissor keepers!  The slightly cross eyed Owl has scissors for spectacles! 

These pics are from Crafty Church last weekend: a friend in the village has been doing some house clearance and scored the whole set of Quilter series, including all the magazines and fabric in unopened bags, and most of the "freebie" extras!  Lucy and Barbara made the first two blocks!

Another class saw the continuation of the silk screen printing class a few weeks ago: the ladies added stitches, bling, ribbon and buttons to their printed tote bags and all seemed to enjoy themselves

 

Yet another class saw ladies making pencil cases for an orphanage they have adopted (embarrassingly I cant remember where).  We set up quite a production line and there should be 18 or so when they are all finished.  We used a design from Aneela Houey's book, but I had to recreate it from memory as I've lost (or loaned?) the book

My Hexie swap flower garden is growing

I saw this on Facebook and wondered whether it might be the solution for finishing this?`

 

2017 Wk 25 - Corking good fun

Yippee!!!  Jackie is here for a weekend of fun!  We went to the National Quilt Championships at Sandown Park yesterday -which may have involved some shopping!

One of our goodies was a sheet of cork 'fabric' - which resulted in these two using Noodlehead's design.

 We've made these before so felt confident in adding slip pockets and zip pockets too

We also had a go at scissor pouches

And then we wrapped some cotton and leaves up together and boiled them in water with rusty nails for . . . well, the bucket didn't reach boiling point after being on the stove for an hour

This was as a result of having met Caroline Bell at Richmond and Kew - she creates amazing fabrics this way - I'm not so sure ours will be as successful - we'll find out tomorrow!

Whilst in the kitchen on a hot sweaty day watching a bucket full of water, nails and fabric - as if that wasn't hot enough, we decided to do some baking!

This means Jackie baking and me fetching and washing up!!!

Lemon drizzle cake . . . 

and the world's strangest shapes muffins (so it turns out you really do need a muffin tin - who knew!)

2017 Wk 19 - Mostly Random!

A very dear friend of mine is training to be a Methodist Minister. He is training at The Queen's Foundation in Birmingham. He has asked me to look at doing a machine embroidery of the Cross at the Foundation
I sent him this embroidery . . .

. . . based on this photo - it needs a bit of work, but I'm pleased with it - and so is he!

I have finished and framed my Wendy Dolan landscape picture, and managed to lose the bit when the green grass bled into the sky!

I had a plan with some cone thingies from jewellery making, combined with a pack of dangly whatsits (I've got all the words today!) bought when mobile phones had a cut out to add a strap or dangly charm, and some Tibetan silver charms and hair scrunchies

You may be asking yourself "what in earth???" (And you would be justified) but there is a point ...(pardon the pun)
To protect your pocket or sewing pouch, or to protect the points of the scissors!
And last but not least ... my lovely Chertsey museum ladies spend last Friday afternoon making felt pictures - combining felt sheets and roving and sewing to make the most amazing pics (some seen here with their inspiration)
