2023 July

If you asked my I think I'd say I've hardly done any crafting in July, but when I look at the photo album and chose photos for the blog I'm clearly lying!

So here we go . . .

The needle felted puffins  went from this . . .

. . . to this

and there is SO much roving left, I might have to make some more!

Jackie came over for a flying visit.  We made a coupe of these

and some of these (two vinyl zipped pockets for projects)

and some more retreat bags thanks to amazing Kathy who found us some frames

I found a patchwork book in a charity shop.  23 of the 24 projects seemed easy, but I really fancied making this hexi / pentagon ball. I bought the book, photographed the page, and the donated the book back to the charity shop!!

And made these!

Lizzie did some embroidery for a customer

Some friends and I went to see another friend in Minehead.  We had a great few days and I snapped a few pics:

We all had a great time

I found a stream flowing over stones - and couldn't resist!

Sadly getting home wasn't a much fun but at least we were safe and together

We mums all worked together at the village primary school, but our girls have also been best friends since they were 5.  I Love this pic of Niki and the 3 bonus daughters, and the lovely words!

I skived off work for a few days and attended a "Summer School"  I learned lino printing

And the beginners MahJong!  I loved it!

2017 Wk 14 - Mostly Chertsey (lino printing)

The Chertsey Project this month was lino printing.  A first for most  - but we managed some great results with only two plasters needed!!!

If you click on the pictures they will go to full size.

We had bunnies, with and without carrots

geometric shapes

and flowers and bees carved from the lino blocks

And one girl used magic blocks instead of lino blocks.  We heated the blue foam on the iron plate (about 35 seconds) then pressed it onto knotted rope.  The details of the rope came out fab in the foam, but not when we added paint and pressed onto fabric.  By the end of the 90 minutes we have managed to progress to making a positive impression by using a second heated block pressed onto the original, and then painted the positive and used the negative to ensure the fabric was pushed against all the paint!  We were rather please with ourselves!

Fifteen Minutes of Fun

I don't feel as if I've done *much* sewing, but I have been managing Fifteen Minutes of Fun quite regularly, and I've realised all those fifteens add up!

This embroidery and appliqué takes about seven minutes to stitch,

And while one is stitching I can be adding zip and lining to another to make a zippy pouch for a note pad and pencil

And a whole load of fifteen minutes later I have a box of these for the ladies at my church group

Whilst I had the zip foot on the machine I also used some Lino printed fabric to make this sample for a Chertsey museum class.

And when I had the normal foot back on I made some other class samples

I also spent a bit of time on La Pass: my first cog is as complete as I can manage at the moment: I've run out of the purple! I've sent some to Jackie as she may have some spare she can 'lend' me, otherwise this will be one of the overlapped cogs!

And talking (writing) of Jackie - I have some serious furniture envy . . . look what she just got!

For me, the word furniture reminds me my mum is coming to stay tomorrow night - and this is the current state of the bed!

Ooops!

Crafty Church Fun

Oh my gosh, what a fab afternoon! It was Crafty Church and we had such fun!!!!

I had some Lino blocks and some foam shapes and some fabric and some paints - it was like potato printing as a kid

Lynne then wrapped some loose threads around the roller and used that to print, and got some fab results

What a shame the afternoon had to end!

April 2026
