 Hello again, I hope you are well

At Chertsey we made papoose pouches: I called them this as they made me think of a papoose for a Native American baby.  These are based on a design I saw on Facebook but it bugged me that it wasn't symmetrical so I redrafted it.  If you want the instruction PDF click here

My crochet project has been restarted a number of times, but I'm finally really pleased with the result, except I don't have enough wool!  Mr Amazon has been dispatched to get me some more, but for now I have to wait 

However the red to go with this bright rainbow yarn has arrived so I have started this.  However I doubt my ability to maintain the slight offsetedness each line so this needs to be frogged and restarted!

I haven't done much making myself, but friends and I made willow stars and lavender pouches

and generally had a great time on a girly weekend away (we worked out we've known each other for over 35 years!)

Back to the papoose pouches: I gave Plum the instructions on Monday and by Tuesday she's made this!

Hopefully more making next month!

2022 December

 Hi all - hope you had a good Christmas and wish you and yours all all the very best for 2023

I know some of my visitors have had a bit of a rubbish 2022: please know  I'm thinking of you, and hope that things improve or get manageable 💗

My December in pictures:

A few Christmas gifts were created

 

A class of Christmas napkins was taught

some Dachshunds were embroidered

Lots of Gingers were embroidered

The La Passacaglia rounds were taken apart and added to tote bags instead

 

Some uniforms were embroidered

A quilt was made for a customer (I know the name is at a strange angle, but it's so it reads right when it is used as a wrap ... and isn't being photographed in a mirror!)

A baby quilt was made for a friend's first grandson

A knitted Queen was received (isn't she great!), thank you Debs

And a conical peg bag (love this), thank you Jane

A Christmas tree was put up and decorated

And Christmas Lunch was enjoyed by all

Slippers were received (in a fab hexie box)

Hair was styled by little miss 8, thank you Nina

Hat and gloves were received, thank you Deb

Mr Nutcracker was received and created, thank you Jackie

But sadly at the end of Christmas we lost this lovely lady: as she would say, she was my first husband's mother!

She was 95, her lower limbs were more metal than bone, she hated having to rely on carers, and she's been asking us to bring her a gun for the last 5 years . . .  I think it's safe to say she was ready to go.

Is it an age thing?  Every time I go to write a blog post I want to start with a reference to how quicklty that month went!

Oldest daughters other half's Birthday pressie (deliberatly not symetrical!)

A fun afternoon at Chertsey Museum mark making of fabric

and mark making on hands (oops, it was gone after two days!)

I borrowed a pattern for a wrap around craft apron.  I made the lined version but it was warmer that I needed so I had another go using half the fabric and a load of bias binding - it worked great!

Mum requested a small quilt for the top of her sewing table: 

The village library was officially opened with a visit from Peppa Pig - so I had to get a cuddle!

Lots of people attend the combine coffee morning and library

A quilt for a friend's 60th - and I gave her matching fabric pens so everyone could write on it

It will probably live at their new beach hut!

I even braved the sea for a swim!

Jackie came for a visit and we did some long overdue touristy things . . .  Windsor Castle was great - we visited the Moat Garden which in 35 years of living within 5 miles of I have never been to!

Loved it!!!

We did of course do some sewing too!

And we had a family dad for Jim's birthday: we hired a boat and had a day trip on the Thames
