This month's Crafty Church was mostly making Christmas decorations!
I was taught how to make these fun decorations
And Daisy, Ellie and Rosie (who taught me) and their mum made 6 large versions between them and then joined them together to make this mega star (about 20" across)
Tara made this *tiny* Christmas scene from a kit
And Lynne is working on this in secret as a Christmas gift for her daughter
This kept me warm on the way to church - tank you Janine - I love it!!!!
I popped into my LQS last week. I've known Helen for (we worked out) at least 23 years. She has a log cabin in the front garden - it's a shop and workshop. I have spent many happy hours there, but she and her husband have put the house on the market and plan to move to the south coast for retirement - the shop has now closed :-(
I help the retirement fund I bought a few bits and pieces: some shocking pink spraytime for the Kaffe Fassett quilt
some Sashiko stencils for a class I'm teaching next year
A beautiful teale fabric and some brown spraytime to go with it, a few meters of dark blue, some sky and some random FQs
And I think I'm ready for Christmas - woohoo!
I started this blog for me - it expanded to show BFF Jackie what I was doing - and a few others have invited themselves too - everybody welcome! Mostly about patchwork, with random comments about embroidery, family and life in general, come on in, put your feet up, and I'll put the [virtual] kettle on.

2019 Wk 7 - Fabric shopping
Janet Clare came to Richmond and Kew quilters a really interesting talk about being a designer for Moda, and brought along a few of her fabrics to buy too!!
She explained that she always uses the same colours in her designs so if we start sewing with one collection we can easily add fabrics from another collection and they will work.
This flimsy has squares from three different collections! I just pulled the dark and mid blue ones for what I wanted. I did buy some low volumes FQs too!
And I've been to my local LQS and bought some near solids to bulk out the fabrics I'm using for the plus quilt.
And in other news I'm nearly up to date with the temperature project, I'm looking forward to warmer weather so the fabrics will show up better!!!!

2018 Wk 43 - more making
We spent the morning at Stitch today - 7 more kits completed - 7 your girls' lives changed
Then back for our own sewing (via a trip to Helen's to buy fabric!)
We made two project bags
and two teenie tiny thread catchers - inspired by one Barbara made for her mum
Just in case you didn't notice the size, here they are again - with a standard bobbin!!!!

2017 Wk 8 - Mostly buying fabric!
A customer contacted me: I'd done a label for a quilt for her first granddaughter, and now number 2 had arrived - could I do a second label? Of course I could - why didn't we meet at Helen's?
So Helen lives kind of between us and has anAladdin's Cave Log Cabin in the garden where she sells fabrics and holds patchwork workshops and classes. It would be rude to just go and not buy anything - you understand don't you?
I have completed Meg's label and will be posting it tomorrow
Ir'll be fab with the quilt she made
But while I was t Helen's I did, of course spend not only my earnings from Meg but a little more besides!
I bought binding, binding and binding
And I asked, on the off chance, if she had any flowery, darkish flannel fabric for this project: https://www.daysforgirls.org/ that my church house group are going to do some making for
Yes - they are what you think they are! The charity supplies washable sanitary pads for girls in areas where disposable ones are not available, and where inadequate protection means missing school. So they provide pretty and practical alternatives (made to a tried and tested 'recipe')
Luckily she did, in the deep recesses of the house so I bought these as well:
