March furtle is here - photo heavy as usual!

Chertsey Museum involved Dorset Buttons using curtain rings - compared to originals from the museum's vaults! 

I made Gingers for Mothering Sunday

And a #craftivism Gingers for Ovarian cancer

I finished and named 4 I-spy quilts (plus 3 more waiting for names)

Stitch donated 11 second hand sewing machines to Days For Girls 

plus 16 kits

Three of us spent an afternoon making aprons for a local church cafe 

A mini "Guess how much I love you" quilt to go with a copy of the book and a matching outfit

Then a fab weekend in Ireland with Jackie.  We made lovely quilted Liberty pouches . . .

And Liberty Twist pouches . . .

and tall liberty Japanese rice bags

I was spoilt by the Irish family for Mothering Sunday

Even had a yummy cake make for me by the oldest granddaughter

Great spending time with her and her brothers

And an awesome collection of Mothering Sunday goodies

Gorgeous grandson has learnt to hold things, the taggie is proving successful

but a drinking glass is fun too!

We had a really good turnout at Crafty Church

and again at Coffee Morning (with crafts and lego)

And finally welcome to the world little Miss Sophia.  Obviously she had to have a quilt to match her brother's!

2023 August

 Well this is another month where I have been astonished by the number of photos I have to show you!

I have been painting flat wooden beads to match two colourful dresses

There was a great variety of show and tell at Chertsey as the ladies brought in projects they had finished

I finished two EPP (hexies and pentagons) balls

These are made in two halves: 10 hexies and 6 pentagons in each half, sewn together like this

I then experimented with other alternatives: One central hexi surrounded by pantagons (x2) makes a flattened ball

but a pentagon surrounded by pentagons (x2) makes a very satisfying little ball (I think these were 1/2 inch sides)

that with the help of a wooden base and a hot glue gun becomes a sweet little pin cushion

I managed to get to Jackie's for a few days.  We had a go at making pouches with an internal pocket, 

but I think I must have not been concentrating as I was handing her stuff to sew that had been assembled incorrectly so some handles were on the inside

We also mode some bags that would hold projects but I maganed to pin the zipwrong on one of them too😱

These two vinyl zippy pouches weren't too bad

I'm making a quilt for a friend from her B-i-L's shirts.  I don't have space to spread the blocks out at home so take advantage for the village hall. All laid out

and the rows all stitched.

My Tula Pink EPP just about fits on the sitting room floor, but not much longer!  I've got some purple to go in the triangles

And I have been working on a smaller EPP travel project.  I've been making the flowers on and off this year and have now decided it's going to be a flower garden (my first).  I found some 'grass' fabric and have started  preparing grass hexies to be added to the flowers

Once they all have the grass I can lay them out and speed date them

Still on the subject of Hexies - I received the August swap flowers, and got mine posted just before the end of the month

Here is a photo heavy roundup of my April!

Little hexie flowers sewn on holiday (half inch sides)

   

Not many holiday photos!  Dad and Eileen's keep bees, and I love that they have painted all the hives a different colour!

I ran out of fabric for the mini hexies, but I had felt with me on holiday - this is prep for next month's Fun With Fabric class: the idea is that you can have several needles threaded onto the thead tail, and stored in the lid.  Take the end one and it's already threaded ready for you to start sewing

And then I decorated this (it was a kit but will also become a class)

Annnnnd . . . stitched this lama

Lizzie has been busy since we got back - we've made King Charles, and a coronation ginger

and I'm making 100 of these for a customer

(just 28 to go)

I made a cushion for the Coronation picnic

  

to go on the throne!

and made a load of name badges for a friend and his friends to put on their boiler suits

  

I finished this lovely balloon nail art kit that the girls got me for Mothering Sunday

And finished two i-spy quilts for two bonus daughters who have just had babies

And loving the blankets Niki made for them

And I made bonus quilts for the Grandmas: I've embroidered "These grandparents belong to" and added the babies' names: as more babies come along they can bring the quilts back to me and get Lizzie to add more names (Jane is expecting the next one next month!)

Lisa helped me run a Crown making workshop in the village: not as many children as we'd hope for, but they all had a great time

  

In other news: Our lovely God Daughter got engaged last week . . . 

and then . . . .Niki and George did too!!!!

Huge congratulations to both couples!!

Niki and George are planning on next year, not sure when Alice and Liam's will be, but very exciting!!!

(of course there had to be a ginger to commemorate the occassion!)

And finally, I managed to put my back out and couldn't drive or even walk when I was supposed to do the April Fun with Fabric so the lovely Rhona came over, collect the stuff, had a very quick lesson in what to do to make Japanese Rice Bags and then took the class for me: Well done all expecially Rhona, and thank you so much!!!
